Let me share some of the valuable lessons of the ancient Egyptians and how they can help you in life and H&C.
1. An eternal approach
The Egyptians realised that their natural life on earth was only a glimpse in contrast to eternity so as soon as they became a Pharoah they immediately started work on building a magnificent tombs, temples and monuments to allow them to enjoy the afterlife. To their credit many of these amazing wonders are still standing a number dating back to 5000 years ago.
What are you building in this lifetime? Are you living your life and building things that will have eternal value? Will the evidence of your time in this lifetime be talked about for generations?
2. Making the most of so little.
We had the joy of cruising river Nile, a narrow passage of water that passes through the largest desert in the work, the Sahara. This river is the life blood of Egypt providing water for agriculture, water for transport, water for drinking and even water to generate electricity. The Egyptians learned to take so little and turn it into something that sustains the lives of tens of millions.
This is an example to all of us that if we really try we can all create life sustaining income with the resources we have if we have the desire and the determination. However too often I hear people say they need more and more and more before they can begin to create success.
3. Even Queens can be remembered as Kings!
In our time in Egypt we learned how a Queen became the first and only female Pharoah through sheer perseverance. She made such an impact that she was buried in the valley of the Kings with the most famous Pharoahs rather than the valley of the Queens. It’s amazing what can be achieved if you try and what legacy you can leave. Sometimes we focus on WHY we can’t do things rather than just making it happen!
4. Talk or die!
I have to take my hat off to the Egyptians. They are some of the best sales people I have seen. It is easy to get into their shops but almost impossible to get out without making a purchase. Their attitude is talk or die!
We sometimes forget that any form of business requires someone opening their mouth and telling others about the product or service being sold. Too often people want some magic system that will do the talking for them or want a way to earn money without ever having human contact. It sounds good in theory but the reality is that we simply have to open our mouths, share our enthusiasm, our passion, and our belief in what H&C offers and sift and sort until we find those ready to commit. The only way to fail is to talk to no one.
